Joan Dobrin

Hi! I'm Joan Dobrin, a professional calligrapher with over 30 years of experience creating custom lettering for weddings, special events, Scripture, keepsakes, and one-of-a-kind commissions. My love of calligraphy began with a single Continuing Education class, and it's been a joyful journey ever since.

Teaching is one of my greatest passions. I've shared calligraphy with students of all ages in schools, churches, libraries, community centers, Michaels, and even at the very school where I first learned the art. My students describe my classes as fun, patient, and encouraging, and I love helping beginners discover that anyone can create beautiful lettering. When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me gardening, spending time with my little dog Buddy, or creating custom artwork in my Buffalo, New York studio.
